An individualistic approach is more relevant than following societal norms..

For the motion

“when you are surrounded by sheep then it is easy to become one yourself.”

? Stephen Richards (a modern day author)

This quote is quite evident to substantiate what my speech deals with. How many of you present here like to be the one who walks with the crowd ? Contemporary economic scene, pacy globalization and "democratization" lay more emphasis on one's voice than anything else.

Gone are the days when it was child's play to mobilize crowd, to bend it and to mold it whichever way one feels suited to his convenience. The age of science and technology needs an individual to transcend boundaries and fallible discrimination based on caste, creed, color, nation, religion and what not.

Individualism involves "the right of the individual to freedom and self-realization". Individualism is the moral stance, political philosophy, ideology, or social outlook that emphasizes "the moral worth of the individual". Individualists promote the exercise of one's goals and desires and so value independence and self-reliance.

It's hard to imagine our beloved India without Gandhi, Bose, Amartya Sen, Bhagat Singh. Had they not stepped out of the vicious circle of stereotypes, we would not have been celebrating our freedom.

Undoubtedly, this path is more dangerous. But I must remind you "No pains no gains".

Individualistic approach is not a new thing. From time immemorial, America has been individualism oriented writ large. In American individualism, the ideal is for all people to be able to freely make their own decisions. The opinions of family elders may be respected, but as youth enter adulthood, they expect and are expected to make decisions about their own lives. And the results have been laden with fruits, making America the only superpower in the world.

All people are individuals. Social norms can affect behavior, however all decision making is individual.

Note : Arrange the above as per your requirements. All the best.
